Nick Park CBE is coming to Preston to Open Animate!

Animate is delighted to announce that Award-winning film director Nick Park CBE returns to Preston to open Animate on Thursday 20 February.
Nick will join The Mayor of Preston, Councillor Phil Crowe and other special guests to unveil a new piece of artwork for the city centre.
Nick was previously guest of honour in the city in September 2021 when he unveiled the city's iconic Wallace and Gromit bench at Preston Markets.
After 13 months, Animate, the city's brand-new leisure destination is coming to life just in time for February half-term. The countdown begins!
Wallace and Gromit will also be in Town!
And what better way to celebrate than with some very special guests? Wallace & Gromit are heading home to Preston! Fresh from their latest adventure, Vengeance Most Fowl, which just so happens to be up for three BAFTAs and an Academy Award - the iconic duo will be making an appearance to meet fans of all ages.
Before jetting off to the red carpets, they'll be wandering around Animate and Preston Markets between 1pm-5pm.
The Big Day: what's happening?
- 1pm - 5pm - Meet Wallace and Gromit
- 3pm - Official Opening Ceremony with Nick Park and The Mayor of Preston, outside what will soon be Hollywood Bowl
- 4-6pm - Preston Concert Band will bring the vibes with classic theme tunes at the Covered Market
Foodie alert!
The Arc Cinema will be handing out free popcorn and goodies because what's a celebration without snacks?
Taco Bell will be officially opening their doors that day as well, bringing the Mexican vibes with some tasty treats from their menu.
Be sure to also visit Argento Lounge who will be serving up some delicious bites and an array of drinks to suit your occasion. Argento was the first venue to open their doors and welcome people to Animate.
The Arc Cinema officially opens Friday 21 February, screening the latest blockbuster movies!
